Introduction

Trichomoniasis a common and treatable STD caused by infection with Trichomonas vaginalis (TV). Trichomonas vaginalis infection is distributed worldwide; over 170 million people are infected annually. About 70% of people with the infection do not have any signs or symptoms. Some people get symptoms within 5 to 28 days after getting the infection. When causing symptoms, they can range from mild irritation to severe inflammation. Pregnant people with this infection are more likely to have their babies early. Also, their babies are more likely to have a low birth weight.
